John Landry A 25-year software executive and innovator
who has served as Chief Technology Officer/Senior VP Development at
such software leaders as Lotus Development, Dun & Bradstreet Software, Cullinet
Software and McCormack & Dodge, John Landry now lives an eclectic
professional life described by one industry pundit as “johnlandry.com, a
one-man keiretsu”. Landry is Founder and Managing Director of Lead Dog Ventures (LDV), a disruptive new-age business accelerator, providing emerging technology enterprises access to a well-developed network of intellectual, relationship and financial capital. Packaging technology vision, business expertise and funding alternatives, LDV provides the means for today's entrepreneurs to become the "Lead Dogs" of tomorrow. Landry has
drawn upon a long and successful track record of building world-class
software and software companies in forming Lead Dog Ventures. LDV
was created while Landry served in a unique capacity at IBM, a role he
assumed following IBM's acquisition of Lotus (SVP/CTO 1990-95). In
1995, IBM CEO Lou Gerstner appointed Landry to lead IBM's Internet Strategy
Task Force, chartered to design and develop IBM's Internet strategy across
the corporation. Following approval in what became IBM's wildly
successful e-Business strategy, Landry proposed to
Gerstner a unique dual role -- identifying disruptive "Lead Dog"
technologies via direct involvement in their businesses, while
simultaneously, as an IBM insider, providing IBM top management and
customers with a view of activity at "the edge".
Landry served in this capacity as VP of Technology Strategy at IBM from
1995 to 2001. This role of "knowledge broker” has continued to evolve as Lead Dog grows both its strategic technology advisory business with clients including IBM, McKinsey and Arthur Andersen, and its investment portfolio with new investments including Adesso Systems, Maven Networks, Unica and Interwise. Complementing these activities, Landry is internationally recognized as an authoritative yet entertaining speaker on the topics of emerging technology and it's impact on business. Landry currently serves as Chairman and
CTO of Adesso Systems where he lead the design and development of
Adesso's revolutionary distributed applications platform. Landry
previously served in the identical position in three of Lead Dog's investments, interactive advertising leader
Narrative Communications (acquired
by Excite/AtHome in 1999), Internet calendaring powerhouse, AnyDay.com (acquired by Palm in 2000)
and web services management pioneer Adjoin Solutions (acquired by
Computer Associates in 2004).
He currently serves on the board of several of Lead Dogs investments. Landry is a long-time trustee of the Massachusetts Software and Internet Council, past-president of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) and the American Software Association, and is a Trustee and instructor at his alma mater, Babson College.
